Things to be Aware Of
A sport like scubadiving certainly requires some considerations besides the ones regarding health that are covered in my health issues page.
Since we humans are social creatures, we tend to do things in groups and normally with people that we are familiar with, but in my experience as a diving instructor, I have observed that people that have a hard time completing a diving certification course are the ones that were pushed by relatives, friends, etc. to take the course. The diving certification course is designed in such a way that you won´t believe how much you could learn in shuch short period of time while having so much fun, but this is certainly not the perspective of a person that is there for the wrong reason. Remember that one thing is to encourage people to do things they want to in the first place, and another to push them to do something they dislike just because you or others wanted them to.
The health issue is an important one in our daily lifes, no doubt about it, It determines in some measure the way you want to live. Imagine how important could this be when you choose to do a sport that is performed in a more demanding environment that the one your body is used to.
Illnesses like diabetes, asthma and heart/cardiovascular problems are very common these days, but the way they can directly affect your diving is, at this moment, not as clear since there are not much clinic studies related to this subject, at least not that could be used as a scientific support. If you want more info in the matter consult the health section in this website.
